Most Dangerous Place for Women Is the Home, U.N. Report Finds

It’s a gruesome reality that is true around the world: Women face the greatest danger in their own homes, according to a new report on homicides around the world by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

More than half of all female homicide victims last year were killed by intimate partners or relatives, the report found. And efforts in some countries to stem such killings through new legal strategies and social programs have not yet made tangible progress, researchers concluded.

Life Testimony example:

I Jenny l stand strongly to denounce all forms  of abuse in our society and also lam an  advocate who strongly believe that there should be no any structure of abuse and not in favor of any type of domestic  violence because I have experienced it first-hand (not real her name) . I was married at young age girl and had six kids in a span of less than ten years. My marriage was characterized with all kinds of abuse and domestic violence and very exasperating full of intimidation from the person who l once loved. I experienced both Psychological, emotional and physical abuse from my ex-husband and my in-laws, who always lived with me and who were allowed to treat me as they wished. My marriage was especially characterized by oppression, suppression and domination from both my husband and my in-laws it was hurting full of regrets.

I was not allowed to make any decisions concerning pertaining to my life, my children or anything in the family.  Soon I realized that both I and my children were just a number in that family and no one was concern about us and this is because my loving husband by then was able to connect well with others outside home. Even though, I was young, with the help of God, I fought with all my might mostly to protect my children and gave them education and a decent life for them to thrive. I have never been an agent of divorce, but if marriage is characterized by physical and emotional abuse, things are likely not going to change and you should look for ways to protect yourself and the children and the community at large to make a home a peaceful and longing home to be. An abusive marriage ends up impacting the lives of children very negatively, and some may extremely dislike family life and very sadly compromises your health too. Since there are choices to assist in building the homes to be healthy homes lets seek lend a hand all the time, prayer and entreaty helps.
